High season is considered June to November and the rest of the year is considered ‘green’ season. Both have different highlights, wildlife populations are at their peak and visibility is best in the ‘high’ season however animals drop their young in the ‘green’ season.

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge, Gonarezhou National Park

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge combines the best of both worlds: rustic luxury on the edge of one of the wildest national parks in the world. A double-storey structure housing a bar, small library, lounge areas and a dining area, this safari lodge presents with a comfortable array of options for relaxing and enjoying the view. The main area additionally overlooks a large outdoor pool and patio, on which guests have the option to enjoy private dining under the stars. Big Cave, Matopos National Park

This national park features the highest concentration of rock art in the world, not to mention the historical site of Cecil John Rhode’s Grave. Activities include a number of archeological and historical tours. Guests also have the opportunity to track and view rare white and black rhino populations in the Matopos National Park. Big Cave offers drives into the Whovi Park, with a professional guide-to view not only rhino, but also leopard and a selection of plains game. Guests can enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to creep up on these wonderful animals on foot once the correct area has been located by the professional guide. This is the birding safari enthusiast’s ideal vacation spot – a favourite for unique bird sightings!

 

Bomani, Hwange National Park

Having only opened in 2013 Bomani Tented Lodge is one of Hwange’s newest safari offerings. Although situated just outside of the national park, Bomani benefits from being on its own private concession and guests can expect an exclusive game viewing experience during their stay. Adjacent to Bomani are the Ngamo Plains, well known for big game, especially elephant. Bomani is simple yet comfortable and very remote. Take a game drive on the ‘Elephant Express’ train and see the incredible variety of game in the region, ranging from big cats, to plains grazing animals, to truly unique bird life and flora.

 

Elephant Camp, Victoria Falls National Park

Situated on a private concession within and bounded by the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges, The Elephant Camp has breathtaking views of the Victoria Falls’ spray, and the spectacular gorges which separate Zimbabwe and Zambia.
